The Big Show
Friday, April 23, 1999 marks the official Houston debut of the band. The show is being held at P.J's (614 W.Gray; next to Cecil's) call 713.520.1748 if you need directions. The cover charge is only 3 dollars, plus you get to see the debut of another band Electrolux.
As an added bonus...the waiting for her... CD "neon" will be available for only 7 bucks. Buy it now, because in a few years it could be priceless (or it could make a nice beer coaster).
The Pre-Big Show
For the adventurous types, we'll be playing a warm-up show on April 22nd, at The Sidecar Pub (11202 Huffmeister; close to U.S.290). Call the club at 281.807.4040 for more info. or go to their website at http://www.sidecarpub.com
The Future
There's a some-what tentative show scheduled for Instant Karma on May 13th. As well as, the Sidecar Pub on June 18th. We've also got promotional packages being reviewed by various music festivals across the US and Canada, including: NXNE, The Atlantis Music Conference, and The CMJ Music Fest. So keep your fingers crossed.
Things are just beginning...so wouldn't it be cool to say "I saw that band's first show", if by chance we happen to make it big. And if we don't, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you supported a very appreciative band.
Until next time...
thanks for your support,

The Big Show(s)
Our shows at PJ's and the Sidecar Pub were wildly successful. Thanks to everyone who came out. The show at PJ's brought close to 200 people through the door...and PJ himself was happy that everyone was drinking.
Coming up, we've got a show this Thursday, May 13th at Instant Karma. We'll be playing a 45 minute set, beginning around 9:30 or 10pm, so everyone should be able to get home in time to get a good night's sleep. (or you can skip work/school the next day, and stay out all night). The club is located at 1617 Richmond, between Montrose and Shepherd.
After that, we're playing June 18th at The Sidecar Pub (www.sidecarpub.com) with the Meredith Miller Band from Dallas. We had a great time playing there in April, so this should be an excellent show. Mark it on your calendars, NOW!!!
More shows are being booked daily, so hopefully you'll find one you can attend. Of course, you SHOULD be at EVERY show. But we understand...
Tragedy Strike the Band
As it sometimes happens, 'waiting for her...' was robbed a few weeks back. After our April 23rd show, we had taken our equipment back to our rehearsal space... then when we returned the following Monday, we found out that someone had broken in and stolen our P.A. and some other equipment. We filed a police report, but we'll probably never get the stuff back. In all, we lost about $1200 worth of equipment.
All I have to say is... " there's bunch of savages in this town".
The Future
Shows are being booked ALL summer. Look for us to play Rudyard's, Mary Jane's, PJ's, and many other places. We're also starting to get shows out-of-town.
If you want to see 'waiting for her...' in the news, pick up the May issues of Urban Beat Magazine, and Music News Magazine.

The Big Show(s)
This Friday, June 18th, we are returning to The Sidecar Pub (www.sidecarpub.com).
It's going to be a headlining show and we should be playing about 2 hours, with all the 'waiting for her...' "hits". We'll go on stage around 11pm, but get there early because The Meredith Miller Band from Dallas will be opening...and they're very cool. Plus, you'll want to get a prime spot in the mosh pit. (just kidding)
Also, make sure you bring an extra 7 bucks...because we will have CDs for sale. You should also pick up a couple of extra CDs for all your friends and family....they make excellent Christmas gifts.
In The News
This Wednesday, grab a copy of the latest 'Houston's Other' paper. It should have an ultra-cool article about the band, our history, and our future.
It's a free paper, and is available all over the place...I usually get mine from either Soundwaves or Blockbuster Music (or whatever they're called now). I've also seen them at House of Pies...and many other fine establishments.
Be sure to cut out the article, laminate it, and put it on your wall for all to see.
The Future
We've got shows coming up in July at Mary Jane's and Instant Karma. We're also starting to get shows out-of-town.
Check out the website for up-to-date info.
When checking out the website...make sure to sign the "guestbook", so we know that you were there.

Hey everybody - as many of you know, Terry has been on vacation for the last week and an half, so Dave is doing this months newsletter...
THE BIG SHOWS:
This month, w4h is big on Thursdays with TWO shows back-to-back !
On Thursday July 8th the band debuts at Mary Jane's - 4216 Washington Ave. We hope to have some other bands, clubs and newspapers representing at that show, so come on out. Also, w4h will return to Instant Karma for a show with "Hip Circle" on July 15th. Both shows start at 10 p.m.. so don't miss 'em.
OTHER NEWS:
Thanks to all who made it out to our June 18th show at the Sidecar Pub ! w4h rocked the evening and life moves on . . .
THE FUTURE:
Look out for possible bigger showcase gigs later this month, including July 29th at Rudyard's (with "Red Line Seven" and "Living w/ Hancel") and also July 31st at the Sidecar Pub (with "Joe King Carrasco").
The band also plans to start touring Texas and is currently lining up dates at clubs in Ft. Worth, Dallas, Corpus Christi & San Marcos ! (you know you will read it first here)
FINAL NOTES . . .
waiting for her has recently moved into a new practice space so hopefully the security issues will clear up. . . Also, w4h's good friend Chris has been filling in for us on drums this summer, but is now getting busy planning his April wedding. The band will be auditioning drummers throughout July and August (if you know anyone, send them our way !) . . . Finally, special thanks to Houston's Other for the great article last month - the band will continue to try to work with any and all news agencies (sorry, my a**-kissing plug for the band)
Peace

To all our friends, and unintended recipients of this newsletter Greetings and Salutations. By request I (myla) am writing this edition of our little newsletter. Actually, everyone else is too busy.
At this juncture in the journey of "waiting for her..." all is well. OK, most everything is well. I have to no avail tried to convince Terry that the band "America" wrote "Horse with no name". Neil Young only co-wrote it.
This topic is open for comments - although I am still convinced I'm right. We are desperaetly seeking Susan. We need to ask her if she has a brother who plays drums. Ok, I am way to silly today. Back to the business at hand.
We need a full time drummer - preferably without a history of mental-illness.
We have a show this week.
a. Thursday 29, 1999 Rudyards 1020 Waugh 10pm.
To keep this on a lighter note I would like to include band trivia. You know, little known facts about the band members themselves.
Did you know that Dave makes the best Pina Coladas ever? (dad, they are non-alcoholic.)
Did you know Terry has a peculiar passion for room temperature Dr.Peppers?
Did you know that Myla's favorite Muppet is Rizzo the Rat? Not that I'm partial to rodents.
Thanks to everyone who came to the Instant Karma show. We had a great turnout!!!
Special thanks to Duckett, my queen.
Hope to see you this week at the big shows.
A full and proper newsletter will be issued as soon as the band reads this one.

Show(s)
This Thursday, August 26th at Instant Karma (1617 Richmond). We'll go on at 10pm and play for about an hour. Other bands on the bill are The Westbury Squares and Deep Ella, both are extremely cool. This should be a great night for music.
Then waiting for her... hits the road!
Over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4th to be exact, we're playing in San Marcos, TX at Café on the Square. If you've got friends or family in or around San Marcos...let 'em know. Or just drive yourself there, because it's sure to be a crazy night.
After the San Marcos show, we'll be taking a little break to work on song-writing and recording.
But don't worry...all is not lost...because...
October 2nd, 1999...Mary Jane's. We're putting together a GREAT show! Newsletter #6 will have more info.
The (recent) Past
The past couple of months have been a blast. We had great turn-outs for our show with Living with Hancel at Rudyard's...and for our show with Sinister Sirens at the Sidecar. Thanks to everyone for coming out.
And if you didn't notice during those shows...there's a new face behind the drum set. Please welcome...STEVE!!! (applause and cheering)
The Future
waiting for her... is taking a month-long hiatus during September. We'll be working on some new songs...as well as, begin recording our second CD. There's some interesting things going on with the new CD...plus, we're putting together a distribution deal (meaning: you can buy it at Wherehouse Music or Soundwaves).

You will then be promptly taken off the list. But we hope you'll at least give us a chance. -thank you
BIG SHOWS
It's never too early to make plans for the weekend, and what better way to start off the weekend than with some good live music. So....
Friday, Sept. 24th, "waiting for her..." will be playing at Instant Karma, with the Austin band "Steamroller". The weather should be perfect for hanging out on the patio and tossing back a few cold ones. After you watch the bands, of course.
Instant Karma is located at 1617 Richmond, or call 713-528-3545 for more info.
Then... Friday, Oct. 8th, we will be at Mary Jane's. This will mark the first anniversary of "waiting for her..."'s conception. So be prepared for the unexpected.
THE PAST
A few weeks ago, we played at Café On The Square in San Marcos...and had a blast. We had a few booking problems at the beginning, but after the show, the crowd was very complimentary. Our new bumper stickers went to good use, as well....on the bartender's shirt.
THE FUTURE
We're in the early stages of putting together a new CD. When we finalize the budget and choose the songs, we're going straight to the studio and hopefully have it out by January 2000. I foresee big things happening in the next year.
future shows: (pencil them in)
Nov. 19th - Instant Karma w/Global Village
Dec. 5th - Sidecar Pub
If you haven't done so, yet. check out our web site, and take the on-line survey. It'll only take a minute, and it helps us to know who YOU are. Or leave us a message at www.waitingforher.com/wwwboard.

THE BIG SHOW
This Friday, November 19th at Instant Karma, "waiting for her..." opens for local funk-sters "Global Village". The show starts around 10:30pm, but get there early and enjoy a few drinks with us. This show also marks the OFFICIAL debut of our new (and we hope permanent) drummer, Trea. So be sure to welcome him Friday night.
OTHER SHOWS
We should be heading back to Instant Karma during December...as well as, an early January show at Mary Jane's. more info. on those shows later.
OTHER NEWS
We're beginning work on our first full-length "professional" CD very soon. We should be going into the studio in December to record a 4-song E.P. that should hold you over until the full CD is completed.
AN EDITORIAL NOTE FROM - MATULA
In the last few months that we've been playing live...I've noticed many great bands in Houston(of all genres) Some of the bands I had never heard before, just because they had never opened for a band I HAD heard of. There have also been 3 bands (that I know of) signed to major record labels in the past year...Chlorine, Fenix TX, and Blue October (let me know if there's more). And if any ONE of these bands make a major national impact...it means only good things for the rest of us.
I know it sounds a little cliche, but really...Support Houston Music! Go out on a Wednesday and see a band that you've never heard before. You may just be surprised...
thanks,

So, why not go to Instant Karma? It's the annual Groove Jones Christmas jam with 'waiting for her...' opening.
We'll be playing a 60 minute set with some unique interpretations of Christmas tunes sprinkled in. If you're a musician, bring your 'axe' and jam the night away afterwards with Groove Jones.

THANKS
First off, a big thanks to all of the great bands we've played with over the past few months. Especially, Eden Automatic from Dallas, TX, who we opened for in Waco.
A lot of folks say that Houston has no music scene, but in the past year, I've become convinced that they are very wrong.
THE BIG SHOW
This Friday, February 25th at Fitzgerald's (downstairs). We'll be playing with Libra's Rib and Martyr Hamarta. The first band will go on around 9:30pm.
If you like ska, upstairs will be Mustard Plug and The Suspects.
If you happen to be in the Lufkin area on March 3rd, come out to the Sports Shack, where we'll be playing all night.
Our next Houston show will then be March 24th at Instant Karma. It looks like it's going to be our official EP release show. Which bring me to............
THE E.P.
Our new 4-song cassette "boldly going nowhere" will be available in a couple of weeks. It will cost $3 at our shows ($5 for two). If you want to order it from the website, it will be $5.
The songs include "Dispelling Rumours", "Pieces", "Secret Crushes", and "All I Know (is you)". You can hear some early demos of these songs on our website.
Well that's it for now...

THE BIG SHOW
This is it!!! Friday, March 24th at Instant Karma (1617 Richmond Ave.), "waiting for her..." releases their new four-song EP 'boldly going nowhere'.
And if THAT'S not enough reason to come out, look who is also on the bill... Secret Sunday - one of our favorite groups and also a band from New Orleans, Motorway.
The EP will cost $3 or $5 for two. But there will be plenty of free tapes given out during the night. How will they be given out?...you'll have to show up and see.
ON THE ROAD
"waiting for her..." has many road shows over the next few months for all of our out-of-town fans.
This Saturday, March 25th, we'll be in College Station for the North by Northgate Music Festival (www.nxng.com). Our time slot is 10:30pm at The Crooked Path. There are a lot of great bands playing during the weekend so a good time can be had by all.
Then March 31st, everyone in the "Big-D" (and I do mean Dallas) can head over to the Across the Street Bar to check us out. We'll be playing all night.
And if you've got nothing to do on April Fools Night and you want to just "hang out" with the band (not a gig, just a chance to chill), we'll all be at Red Bloods in Deep Ellum for the CD release of Dallas band "Eden Automatic". In fact, you should just plan to take that Monday off, because there's NO way you'll have recovered from the weekend.
There's a LOT of other shows planned, so go to our website for all the latest info.
That's all for this month. If you can't make it to a show to pick up an EP...go to our website for details on how you can get it mailed to you.

THE BIG SHOW
We've taken a brief time off because of illness and prior commitments, but we're back...healthy and ready to go.
This Thursday...May 4th...At Instant Karma. We'll be playing with SenseField. They were (until recently) signed with Warner Bros., but they'll be signing with another major label, very soon. Go to " sensefield.net ", to hear some of their music....I really like them.
The show is going to start early...like 9pm... so make sure you don't miss any of it. Instant Karma is located at 1617 Richmond.
MORE SHOWS
This Friday...May 5th. We'll be back in College Station at Sweet Eugene's. All of our A&M friends say it is a very cool place...but that's about all I know about the show. If you're in the A&M area...you'll have to call the club to get any details.
May 20th...we'll be at Fat Ted's in Dallas. It's in Deep Ellum on Commerce. And we'll be playing all night.
May 26th...back in Houston at Instant Karma. I don't know who the other bands are, yet... but Karma always does a good job putting together their shows. So we probably WON'T be playing with a Swedish Death Metal band. (of course, I wouldn't be opposed to that)
And finally...June 6th...Mary Jane's in Houston. More info. on this show in the next newsletter.
That's all for this month. If you can't make it to a show to pick up an EP...go to our website for details on how you can get it mailed to you.

A FOND FAREWELL TO CHRIS JONES
This Friday, May 26th, 'w4h...' plays at Instant Karma with Steamroller (from Austin). The show will start at 10:30pm...and we're the second band.
It's going to be a special show, because we're saying goodbye to a close friend of ours, who is moving far, far away to the evil city of New York. Some of you may know Chris Jones... so come on out and wish him well. On top of that he'll be giving all has, as our drummer for the evening.
But I must dispell some rumours, "waiting for her..." is NOT calling it quits. We're alright, we just need to find (and break in) a new drummer. Our 5th, in the ever moving carousel of drummers. So this show will be the last for a couple of months, until we put all the pieces back together. But we will make NO excuses, we WILL be back soon...and better than ever.
And once our new drummer is in place (whoever it may be), we will be begin serious work on our full-length CD.
By the way.....I've sprinkled titles (or bits of titles) of our songs within the message...and if you can identify all of the songs, and e-mail us back with your answers...you will get a FREE bumper sticker at the show (they're all the rage in Paris).... try ' http://www.waitingforher.com/music.html ' for a little help.
Well that's enough stupidity for now...take care... and see you on Friday!
the quiz answers (from the top):
goodbye

i'm alright
carousel
pieces
excuses

A lot of new e-mail addresses have been added recently...either from old sign-up sheets or from other's suggestions... so to all the new folk... Hi! Welcome...we hope you enjoy our monthly foray into stupidity and entertainment.
For all the old folks... thanks for not removing your name from the list. And to all the people that removed their names from the list .... shame on you!!!
FIRST THINGS FIRST (IMPORTANT!!!)
The Houston Press music award nominees were announced this last week... and low-and-behold "waiting for her..." was nowhere to be found. We were at least hoping for best female vocalist, if not best new band .... but we got nothing. (Of course, we really weren't expecting to win... just be nominated)
Now your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to go to: http://www.houstonpress.com/hpma2000/ ...then write-in "waiting for her..." for EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY.... just kidding.
Actually, we want to focus on Myla as best female vocalist (cuz' Myla's voice sure is pretty). And if you're so inclined... best new band.
If you don't live in Houston... what have you got to lose? (I voted in the Dallas Observer awards ... and put our name in any category where I wasn't putting another band... like 'best rap band: waiting for her...') So that's that. We would be forever in your debt. once again:
http://www.houstonpress.com/hpma2000/MAballot2000/ballot
Myla (from "waiting for her") - best female vocal
SHOWS ... ok actually just one show.
July 7th, 2000 The Sidecar Pub ( http://www.sidecarpub.com ) 9:00pm with Feel. We've got a new drummer, Boris, and a ton of new songs .. so this will be a good one. If you want free tickets.. e-mail us and we'll work something out.
by the way, did I mention:

Myla (from waiting for her...) - best female vocal.
One last thing .....

BIG SHOW
This Friday, September 15, we'll be playing at Instant Karma (1617 Richmond) with Elektra recording artists " VAST " (http://www.realvast.com). They've got a song on "The Beach" soundtrack... so they must be cool.... no really. I like Leo DeCaprio. (I probably shouldn't admit that, publicly) Anyway, we'll start around 11pm, but get there earlier just in case.
FOR YOU NON-HOUSTON FOLKS
If you live in AUSTIN, come check us out at Nasty's on Sept. 23rd. The bar is off of Guadalupe somewhere north of "The Drag".... ask your neighbor for directions. We'll start around 10pm.
If you live in COLLEGE STATION, we'll be at Sweet Eugene's all night... starting after 9pm. We always have a great time in C.S..... and Sweet Eugene's is great. Plus, they've got the biggest cups of coffee I've ever seen. So come on out, and see the band "wired". If for nothing else, you should check out the cool new posters I made for the show.
NEWS
Bass-player/ show-booker/ Instant Karma-cheap-drink-getter Dave is currently on his honeymoon, after getting married 10 days ago to article-writer/ picture-taker/ Suburban-driver Monique. Congrats.... feel free to buy them a drink or five this Friday.

Thurs Dec 14th ...The Engine Room (downtown, Pease @ LaBranch) .... it's a "Battle of the Bands" ..... we start at 10pm..... come out and yell and scream so the judges think we're rock starts.
Also, Sat. Dec. 16th .... we'll be at the Mausoleum ( http://www.come.to/mausoleum ). with Uneven Souls and Blue Corner. We might just throw in a few Christmas songs.
A COLD DAY IN NOVEMBER
Thanks to all the brave Beaumont-ians (is that right?) that stood out in the cold at The Art Studio to hear us play. We had such a good time, we just might be back in that area soon ... more later.
NEWS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT
two band members have moved: Myla... into the "old neighborhood" (inside joke), and Terry .... out of the country and into the urban sprawl, once again.
serious talk about a forthcoming CD is underway. (anyone want to give us some money? .... $5,000 would be nice 🙂 )
Look for "waiting for her.... website 2001" coming soon.
OK...I'm done ....

waiting for her... e-mail newsletter #20
in the words of Porky Pig: th-th-th-th-that's all folks!
The band known as "waiting for her..." no longer exists. our website, http://www.waitingforher.com ,will be gone in a month ... but feel free to check out our mp3.com site at: http://www.mp3.com/waitingforher ...... that will be around forever.
I'd just like to take this space to give thanks to everyone who helped us along over the past couple of years:
the spouses and girlfriends who were so supportive (and some who weren't)
our friends who would come to see us play, and helped us out when they could
the drummers who filled in until Boris could make it. (Chris, Matt, Steve, and Trea)
the great bands we played with (both broken up and still together) .... Eden Automatic, 24 Count, Uneven Souls, Galaxy Girl, Ashbury Keys, 77 South, I am I, Droplet, Secret Sunday , Sevenfold, Feel, Tommy Kickstand, More Than Us, Altered, and Blue Corner.
.... there are MANY others, so sorry if your band was left out .... we still thank you.
Jeff Thames from SoundAwake ( http://www.soundawake.com ) for playing our stuff every now and then ..... <<>>
OUN from Uneven Souls for his CONSTANT support of the music scene .... and not just one style of music, either.
The clubs we played...
- specifically, Davey from The Mausoleum .... one of the most fun clubs we played.
- Peron at The Sidecar Pub ( http://www.sidecarpub.com ) , who gave us our FIRST ever club show.
-and we remember Tinna from Instant Karma, who was a constant source of support and who dubbed us , "the nicest band in Houston".
- all the great people from The Art Studio in Beaumont and Sweet Eugene's in College Station
Houston's Other newspaper (r.i.p.) .... and John Dunivin ... for a couple of really cool articles about us
A few really cool "fans" (who are now friends) we picked up on the way .... David, Scott, and Paula.
..... I'm sure there are MANY more people to thank, but I can't think right now ..... but anyone who had a kind word or showed us some support, we thank you immensely.
I'm sure members of "waiting for her..." will be involved in other musical projects in the future .... so be sure to look for us.
Again, thanks to EVERYONE for the support .... and for not taking your name off of this list.
See ya'
